Schlumberger Kabushiki Kaisha Center
Established in 1982 as Schlumberger's first technology center in Asia, the center moved from its initial location in Tokyo to Sagamihara in 1985. Personnel here design and manufacture products for wireline services such as borehole acoustics, pressure sensors, downhole fluid analysis, and cable telemetry. A recent focus is extending wireline sonic, seismic, and fluid analysis services to the LWD environment.
Furthering technology through collaboration
An industrial and academic network within Japan and in Far East Asia figures strongly in the center's development of high-tech industry applications. Its participation in several academic consortia such as Methane Hydrate R&D, International Ocean Drilling Program, and Exotic Nano-Carbon R&D provides the avenue for both sharing and developing the expertise.
