Inside Schlumberger
- Flow Assurance Begins at the Source
Offshore, where flowline blockages can mean economic disaster and subsea intervention may be prohibitively expensive, flow assurance is a paramount concern for operators. Prevention of such events requires a carefully constructed flow assurance strategy based on a thorough understanding of the fluid properties that can only be gained through careful laboratory measurements. However, downhole samples used in laboratory studies must be acquired in a way that ensures they are in fact representative of the entire reservoir.
- Winter 2008/2009 Oilfield Review Examines Variety of Technologies
For 20 years Oilfield Review has described advances in oilfield technology for a broad audience of industry professionals. The Winter 2008/2009 issue celebrates that tradition by covering a diverse group of topics, including nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) logging, coiled tubing (CT) operations with fiber-optic communication, use of fiber optics for downhole temperature measurement, satellite sensing for seismic acquisition planning, and acidization options for high-temperature wells. This issue is now available in the online Oilfield Review archive.
