Environmental training courses
Applied Groundwater Flow and Transport Modeling
The Applied Groundwater Flow and Transport Modeling (AFTM) 4-day applied groundwater modeling course introduces the modeling process, including conceptual model development, numerical model implementation, model calibration, and the presentation of model results. The AFTM course was designed to present the theory behind MODFLOW, MODPATH, MT3D, Zonebudget, SEAWAT, and WinPEST, and to illustrate the practical development of groundwater flow and solute transport models using Visual MODFLOW software.
Making Sense of Environmental Data with Hydro GeoAnalyst Software
The Making Sense of Environmental Data with Hydro GeoAnalyst Software 3-day hands-on course presents an introduction to the management and analysis of environmental data using Hydro GeoAnalyst software. Course topics include data types, coordinate systems, datums and map projections in a GIS, data interpolation within the GIS, the development of model layers, the import and export of different types of data from the GIS system to the groundwater model and back to the GIS system, and visualization/animation of the hydrogeologic conceptual model in two and three dimensions.
Integrated Aquifer Characterization & Goundwater Modeling (ACGM)
The Integrated Aquifer Characterization & Goundwater Modeling environmental training course starts with an introduction to the data available to characterize the hydrogeology of a study area and the benefits of Hydro GeoAnalyst software for data management, borehole log design, cross-section development, and GIS mapping of model input parameters and boundary conditions. Then, groundwater flow modeling is illustrated using Visual MODFLOW software as a tool for predicting groundwater heads, pathlines, gradients, and water balance components.
Regulatory Review of Hydrogeology Studies
The 4-day Regulatory Review of Hydrogeology Studies course provides an overview of how to review a hydrogeologic study from a regulatory perspective, with attention given to the groundwater modeling component and how it is reported. The course has applications in reviewing modeling studies, peer review of consultant work plans, and specification of modeling requirements for tendering groundwater studies.
Modeling for the Mining Industry
The 4-day Modeling for the Mining Industry modeling course was designed to present the theory behind site characterization, database management, water quality data analysis, and groundwater flow and solute transport modeling for mine site assessment. This course is ideally suited for hydrogeologists and environmental professionals concerned with assessing mine site development, mine operations and contamination, and mine site decommissioning who wish to advance their modeling knowledge, and whose responsibilities include model development, review, planning and project management.
Finite Element Groundwater Modeling
The 4-day Finite Element Groundwater Modeling hands-on groundwater modeling training course covers advanced applications of groundwater flow and contaminant transport models using the finite element method and includes the principles of finite element mesh design, model parameterization, boundary condition development, model calibration, and effective visualization of the results.
Water Quality Data Management & Modeling
The 3-day Water Quality Data Management & Modeling course is designed to give groundwater professionals hands-on experience using AquaChem tools for projects requiring geochemical data interpretation and management of water data. This course includes exercises to demonstrate various techniques for importing, querying, and reporting water quality data; the process of quality control in the development and use of a database; and the use of the program to complete temporal and spatial geochemical data interpretation. In addition, participants will learn the fundamentals of using PHREEQC to model dissolved concentrations in groundwater.
Aquifer Test Analysis
The Aquifer Test Analysis course was designed to present the theory behind groundwater flow to a pumping well and to illustrate the practical development of aquifer test solutions. This course introduces the equations of groundwater flow, the analytical techniques developed to solve these equations, and their practical implementation in AquiferTest Pro software.
Custom Open Enrollment Modeling Courses
Custom Open Enrollment groundwater modeling courses are professional short courses designed to address current topics in groundwater analysis from an integrated software analysis perspective. By combining some of these topics into a single course, we are able to present the issues that surround a specific groundwater problem.
Custom On-Site Courses
Custom on-site courses are courses that are designed by you. We work with you to choose the material that suits your training needs. Once the course material has been finalized, we will bring the course to your office(s) and present it to your employees, which reduces costs, allowing you to train more employees.
Schlumberger Water Services Workshops
Schlumberger Water Services Workshops are informative, hands-on seminars showcasing Diver dataloggers and their integration into the Schlumberger Water Services suite of software products. Registration is free; however, space is limited.
