Business continuity communications for the oil and gas industry
Schlumberger Global Connectivity Services is providing a Disaster Recovery solution to address the hurricane risk during the upcoming 2009 season. This will mitigate the disruption to oil and gas operations caused by hurricanes, minimize service interruptions, and provide reliable VSAT services.
Teleports have been relocated well away from hurricane zones. Following a decade of service, the Schlumberger Houston teleport was decommissioned in 2007 after a hurricane risk assessment. All traffic was relocated to the Schlumberger teleport in Sedalia (CO), for Ku-band services, and to two distinct Intelsat facilities on the East coast for C-band services.
From the VSAT service landings in Sedalia or on the East Coast, traffic is forwarded over redundant fiber links to the Schlumberger point of presence in Houston, where SPINE access, local loops, Internet access, and a voice gateway are available.
Fixed, stabilized, mobile, or quick-deploy VSAT equipment is offered in an extensive suite of solutions to address your specific needs.
In addition to VSAT, Schlumberger now provides a wide range of connectivity solutions to its customers in case of a hurricane:
Broadband
BGAN
Inmarsat
Wireless technologies.
Service equipment is available for both lease (short- and long-term options) and purchase.
