Having once again successfully completed what is regarded as an exacting program of audits and testing, Schlumberger has been granted Type Approval for its SpaceTrack 4000 1.2m Ku-Band Stabilized VSAT Terminal by the telecommunications regulator in Brazil.
This is a major accomplishment, as obtaining type approval is recognized as an extremely onerous and challenging process. Particularly as both the manufacturer and the product itself are put through a series of audits and tests that look at everything from manufacturing process to highly detailed product testing. With both the manufacturer and the product needing to successfully complete the process for type approval to be granted.
Type approval means that the 1.2m Ku-Band Stabilized Terminal is approved for use in Brazilian waters without the requirement for further testing or certification. Without type approval, service providers are not able to deploy their terminals in Brazilian waters without additional extensive testing and certification prior to each deployment, impacting cost and delivery.
