Formation pressure while drilling for slimhole applications

Drawing on the experience of the larger formation pressure-while-drilling (FPWD) services, the StethoScope 475 multifunction FPWD service makes accurate measurements—in smaller hole sizes. With a maximum outside diameter of 5.75 in, the FPWD tool provides direct pore pressure and mobility data for fluid typing, reservoir pressure management, and mud-weight control and optimization.

High-quality real-time FPWD data

Substantial quality indicators are provided with the final formation pressure measurements to give the detail needed for confidence in the data. The quality indicators are supplied in real time to
  • determine the accuracy of the pretest
  • compute the final buildup rate and gauge variance
  • validate formation pressure data.

Versatile FPWD operation

The StethoScope 475 service can be set in any hole, vertical or deviated, regardless of tool orientation. Its shearable, drillable setting pistons function in boreholes up to 1.38 in larger than its outside diameter. The service also takes pressure measurements with pumps on or off to reduce sticking or eliminate noise.
