The ProSource interface for creating and managing studies allows effective and rapid access to your previous interpretation results in Petrel and other interpretation systems.
The blue arrows allow the user to transfer information back and forth from the Reference Project. Indicator light right to the object indicate if the object is new, old or duplicate.
Reference Project tool
A Petrel Reference Project is a lightweight data management solution for asset teams needing collaborative view and storage repository for shared data. While very similar to a Petrel (.pet) Project, a Reference Project is intended to be a master project for the asset team.
Collaboration – The Reference Project holds collaborative asset team project information, from which the Petrel Reference Project tool allows you to push and pull data for your individual .pet projects. Object references in a Petrel Project (log tracks belonging to a well, horizons belonging to a model, faults belonging to a workflow) are not disturbed by continuous movement across User and Reference Projects, so you can rearrange objects easily and often.
Usability – A Reference Project (.petR) is like a regular Petrel Project (.pet), because Petrel and the Reference Project Tool work the same for both project types. However, the Reference Project is meant to be the master repository of data, and should only store the final versions of data.
ProSource for Petrel
Traditional G&G workflows need a coordinated information management (IM) approach for project data management. Simple, integrated ProSource Petrel Extension workflows minimize administrative tasks and allow asset teams to browse, compare, quality-control, and ensure published project data compliance. ProSource integrated viewers and tools manage Petrel projects and GeoFrame, OpenWorks, and Finder legacy data stores, and enhanced workflows complement the Petrel Reference Project environment.
Publish and compare - The ProSource Project Publish module publishes the Petrel Project contents to an index where you can access, view, and quality-control all Petrel projects. With ProSource tools, you can publish and compare multiple projects and their data. The GIS map interface lets you view data from multiple projects and combine it with data from third-party or internal sources. The folder tree view allows concise data browsing and reviewing of single and multiple Petrel projects.
Spatial workflow integration - With ProSource ArcGIS spatial modules, Petrel users can export any objects of the types point, line, and polygon to an ESRI shape file, and any grid as an ArcGIS grid file, allowing you to integrate Petrel or ArcSDE data into your spatial workflows. The modules also support the import of shape files and ArcGIS grids into a Petrel project for use in Petrel workflows.
