Dual-Action Valve

Full-opening downhole test valve

Close up of the downhole tester valves.

Reliable, efficient operation with rupture discs

The dual-action valve is a full-opening downhole test valve that is run in the closed position, opened by annulus overpressure (rupture disc), and then reclosed by a second annulus overpressure (rupture disc). The operator mandrels are balanced to ID pressure, and a two-way ratchet is used to prevent an operator mandrel from shifting, except in response to the annulus overpressure signal.

The ball valve is chosen for deploying the dual-action valve as closed-open-closed or open-closed-reopened.
