PowerPak XP sets drilling record of 5,855 ft in one day

Challenge: The operator’s existing record for most motor footage drilled in 24 h was 5,120 ft.

Solution: BHA included a PowerPak XP extended power steerable motor and a PowerPulse MWD telemetry system up to a 12-bps telemetry rate. This industry-leading rate contributed to the record-setting performance by allowing gamma ray and resistivity logging at full drilling speed.

Result: We broke a long-standing record in the South Java Sea by drilling 5,855 ft of 12-in hole in 24 h. This exceeded the operator’s existing record by 735 ft and surpassed, by more than 200 ft, a previous record for the most motor footage drilled in 24 h.
