GYPSOL is a scale dissolver designed to remove calcium sulphate scale that usually co-precipitates with some degree of barium and/or strontium sulphate.

Application

GYPSOL delivers the optimum pH conditions (pH 7-8) to dissolve calcium sulphate scale whilst retaining a limited ability to dissolve co-precipitated barium and sulphate scales. Both gypsum and anhydrite are readily dissolved with GYPSOL. In benchmark testing, GYPSOL easily out-performs EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) that is often recommended as an alternative low cost scale treatment. Temperatures in excess of 60°C allow penetration of dissolver through the hydrocarbon layers present on the scale, leading to rapid scale dissolution without the need for mutual solvents, thus reducing cost.
