DENVER–In the Pinedale Anticline region, the average time to drill and complete a typical well stood at 35 days in 2007. By mid-2008, the application of new drilling technologies and methodologies had reduced the average drilling time to 28 days per well. At that point, Ultra Petroleum set a target to further reduce the average time to 15 days by implementing a radically new drilling strategy.
