With conventional fracturing techniques, conductivity is lost by crushing, fines migration, residual fluid damage, multiphase flow, and non-Darcy effects. HiWAY channel fracturing eliminates all these factors by creating channels for hydrocarbons to flow through rather than flowing through proppant packs. The technique increases flowback rate, improves polymer recovery, decreases screenout and proppant flowback risk, and substantially boosts hydrocarbon production and estimated ultimate recovery.
