Technology and engineering advances will most definitely play a key role in maintaining the momentum in unconventional reservoir development. As more hydraulic fracturing is undertaken, more knowledge is gained. The continued development in technologies that reduce the amount of equipment and volumes of materials required to deliver the production results is needed to continue to improve the economics of marginal plays. A fully integrated design workflow is also needed to utilize all of the reservoir, well, fracturing, and microseismic data available in order to evaluate and model the results of today’s multistage, complex hydraulic fracture completions and their production performance.
