GeoSphere Service Eliminates Need for Pilot Hole by Precisely Mapping Reservoir Boundaries, Onshore Southeast Asia

An operator drilling in Southeast Asia required realtime imaging of cemented stringers in an overlying formation to prevent a false landing. Critical objectives included achieving a smoother hole, increasing ROP, and reaching the required dogleg severity. With no offset wells for reference, the operator precisely mapped the formation and adjusted the well trajectory to land 1.5-m TVD above the top of the target reservoir, eliminating the need for a pilot hole.
