Accurate Formation Pressure Evaluation Achieved in HPHT Carbonate Lithology

Publication Date: 01/07/2015

An operator in Malaysia wanted to evaluate formation pressure within an HPHT environment with limited offset well data. Due to the presence of carbonates, Eaton-based compaction trend methods could not be used.

A lack of clean shales led to LWD data indicating little change in pore pressure. Only the gas behavior analysis workflow of the PreVue service was able to accurately evaluate the entire prospect, enabling the primary objective to be achieved and TD to be called as per the drilling program.
