Operator Overcomes Wellbore Instability and Exceeds Production Expectations by 20% with FAZEPRO System

While drilling and completing a horizontal well in western Kuwait, an operator needed to combat wellbore instability without damaging the inflow control device (ICD) completion. To meet density, ROP, and filtercake requirements, M-I SWACO recommended the FAZEPRO reversible invert-emulsion reservoir drill-in fluid system with WARP advanced fluids technology as the weighting agent.

Using the FAZEPRO system, the operator successfully drilled the 8½-in horizontal section to TD. Once the well was displaced, Schlumberger ran the MeshRite screens with the ICD and swellable packers before spotting the FAZEBREAK system across the screens. Well production exceeded customer expectations by approximately 20%. Because of the positive results, the operator requested the combination of the FAZEPRO system, WARP technology, and FAZEBREAK system in all upcoming wells with similar completions.
