Abstract

PEMEX wanted to improve gas production in the Burgos Asset, where it had declined quickly in the first year of production because of gas-loading, back pressure, reduced permeability, and hydraulic fracture performance in the target formation. With more than 3,000 active wells, PEMEX wanted to be able to monitor the field and to select candidates for workover.

Schlumberger developed a workflow that integrates all production processes, and implemented a continuous, remote monitoring system on the wells which calculates gas flow for each well, and identifies and selects candidate wells for optimization and workover.

Continuous, automated monitoring of the wells not only enables PEMEX to control and manage their wells, but it also provides them with more reliable data so they can maximize production in the Burgos Asset.
