Abstract

In this paper, we discuss a temporal correction for seismic data recorded with impulsive sources and moving streamers. The effects of the receiver motion can be compensated by a time-variant and offset-dependent static correction. This compensation improves the alignment of the normal-moveout corrected gathers and avoids stacking velocity errors that misaligned seismic data can cause. The receiver motion compensation, applied to a synthetic model and to seismic data acquired with sources positioned fore and aft of the receivers, demonstrates the merits of this correction method.
