2D finite-difference (FD) modeling and 2D reverse-time migration (RTM) conducted over 2 lines of the Ziggy model confirms the potential of long-offset seismic data to improve subsalt imaging. The maximum offset of the FD modeling was 20 km, and RTM was done with a maximum offset of 7 km, 14 km, and 20 km separately. The imaging below a complex salt structure was improved significantly with an increase in maximum offset. The combination of wide azimuth with longer offsets should bring another step improvement in subsalt imaging.
