CNL Compensated Neutron Log

The CNL compensated neutron log tool makes thermal and epithermal neutron measurements for calculating porosity and identifying lithology and the presence of gas. Used in triple- and quad-combo toolstrings, the combination of the CNL and other porosity logs results in more accurate porosity values and lithology identification, including the evaluation of shale content.

This basic insight is readily expanded by combining triple- and quad-combo data with additional measurements. Integrated interpretation employs advanced workflows, the multidisciplinary expertise of our interpretation geoscientists and engineers working with you as needed, and software such as the Techlog wellbore software platform to maximize the value of your logging data. The result is the fullest possible understanding of complex lithologies, such as carbonate, shaly sand, and shale reservoirs.

CNL Correlation for Open and Cased Hole Logs

CNL measurements are used to calculate porosity, detect gas, determine lithology and correlate between openhole and cased hole logs. The caliper curve in track 1 was recorded simultaneously by a Litho-Density tool.
