DAPC Dynamic Annular Pressure Control System

Overview Library

Automated Pressure Control for Trouble-Free Drilling

The DAPC system is a real-time automated pressure control system that continuously monitors the annular pressure in a well and manages it within narrow limits. This benchmark system uses proprietary programs that provide a high degree of reliability and fast control.

Drilling pressure control services using the DAPC system can be configured and scaled for constant bottomhole pressure (BHP), single- and multiphase flow drilling, pressurized mudcap drilling, influx and loss detection, dynamic leakoff tests, and controlled flow checks.

In its modular configuration, the DAPC system offers a compact footprint and flexible installation, making it ideal for the simplest or most challenging wells on small rigs and platforms.

Unmatched system for high-value fields

In applications recognized as singular achievements, the DAPC system has demonstrated an unmatched ability to control pressure in ways not previously possible. It was the first automated MPD system approved for use in deepwater Gulf of Mexico fields, the first operated remotely from onshore, and the first to control BHP while drilling with casing and cementing.

The DAPC system was first in providing true closed-loop pressure control in a deepwater shallow gas well with real-time pressure-while-drilling (PWD) data transmitted on wired drillpipe.

The system has been used repeatedly to drill high-value fields impossible to drill with conventional methods while reducing cost and risk.

The value delivered with the DAPC system can be measured in terms of the hydrocarbons that would never have been produced from wells that could never have been drilled.
