Continuous Monitoring of Delta Flow for Enhanced Influx Detection
Kick detection services for quick influx detection include a delta-flow monitoring and alarm system and flow measurements made by an accurate Coriolis flowmeter. Provided in conjunction with the automated DAPC system, this service continuously monitors flow for early signs of influx, kicks, and losses. The control system issues warnings whenever delta flow transits programmed limits.
The Coriolis flowmeter is installed downstream of the DAPC choke manifold to monitor return flow. During normal drilling operations, returning fluid continuously circulates through the choke manifold and Coriolis flowmeter. When a backpressure pump is used to augment the annulus pressure during low-flow conditions, a constant flow of mud is circulated through the manifold and Coriolis meter, enabling active detection during connections.
