High-Pressure Rotating Control Device Services

Remotely Accommodate Onshore & Offshore Rigs

High-pressure rotating control device (RCD) services are available with improved safety and performance features for high-pressure, onshore, and offshore MPD and UBD operations. Key features include remotely operated seal clamps, low-pressure risers, dual sealing element pressure sensors, integrated sealed-bearing assemblies, and low-profile models to accommodate rigs with limited space below the drill floor.

High-pressure RCDs offer multiple sealing options, including sealing elements composed of different compounds, a dual-seal element adaptor for an uninterrupted wellbore seal, and a remote locking system to eliminate the need to send personnel below the rig floor to latch and unlatch manual clamps.

High-pressure applications, continuous performance improvements

The requirements in increasingly more challenging applications have driven the development of high-pressure RCD performance improvements. These include more robust sealing element materials and designs that conform to, and have been validated by, API 16 RCD testing, efficient installation procedures, large-bore spools to accommodate large ID bottomhole assemblies, and protective containment sleeves to prevent incidental fluid spillage into the environment.

High-pressure applications for constant bottomhole pressure MPD, single- and multiphase UBD, pressurized mud cap drilling, environmental protection, and exploration drilling have established field-proven acceptance in deep water, shale gas, HPHT, fractured carbonates, deep tight gas, subsalt, and horizontal development.
