Rotating Control Device
The low-pressure Model 8068 rotating control device (RCD) is designed to provide an annular pressure seal in large-diameter wells under standard temperature conditions. A special version of the 8068—the 8068-G—is also available for high-temperature drilling operations, especially geothermal operations. Both versions feature a split-body design with the bearing assembly securely attached and sealed to the mounting spool via mechanical clamping dogs.
Mounting spools are available for connection with 13 3/8-in to 20-in BOP bolt-on spools, and 30-in and 36-in welded-on mounting flanges are available for mounting on conductor pipe when no wellhead is in place.
Features
- Large heavy-duty tapered roller bearings for low-torque rotation and load support
-
Shock cushion in the retrievable drive bushing to absorb lateral drillstring impact, ensuring dependable bearing performance
-
Elastomers for oil, gas, high-temperature, and water-based drilling fluids
-
Dual-sealing element adapter to increase drilling personnel safety
-
Full range of stripper elements for oil, gas, or geothermal drilling
Advantages
-
Provides an uninterrupted wellbore seal and enables annular pressure management through a mechanically energized sealing element.
-
Allows drilling operations to continue while isolating the rig personnel from potentially harmful wellbore fluids and gases.
-
Protects the environment by directing potentially harmful wellbore fluids and gases through rig processing equipment.
