Quicksilver Probe Focused Extraction of Pure Reservoir Fluid

The sample purity you need, in a fraction of the time

Quicksilver Probe focused fluid extraction collects virtually contamination-free formation fluids in a fraction of the time it takes to collect conventional samples. Faster, more representative samples give you a better understanding of hydrocarbon properties at reservoir conditions while avoiding extended production testing or lengthy additional PVT laboratory work.

Focused sampling

The innovative probe design of the Quicksilver Probe tool draws filtrate-contaminated fluid to the perimeter of the probe, where it is pumped into a separate flowline. This diversion enables the probe center to collect pure reservoir fluid into a sampling flowline. The fluid properties in both flowlines are monitored in real time to control the independent pumping systems during the focused sampling operation.

Focused fluid extraction not only sets a new standard in sample purity, but the faster fluid cleanup significantly reduces station times to cut rig time and cost.

Fluid profiling

Quicksilver Probe technology makes it possible to conduct downhole fluid analysis (DFA) for condensate through heavy oil, even in oil-base mud. The more you know about your reservoir fluids, the better equipped you are to reduce the risks associated with producting them. The focused extraction of virtually contamination-free reservoir fluid from the formation is key to InSitu Family analysis, delivering quantifiable fluid measurements at true reservoir conditions, all in real time.

Benefits

  • Better decisions based on truly representative samples, with negligibly low to zero contamination
  • Reduced rig time and cost from increased sampling efficiency with faster fluid cleanup
  • Information sooner and at lower cost by avoiding production testing and PVT laboratory analysis
