Global reach. Local service.

deepwater, rig

Schlumberger has been operating in Scandinavia since 1966, when we logged the first well ever drilled on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (Well 8/3-1 for Esso from the Ocean Traveler rig). From these beginnings, our presence has grown rapidly, and today, we can offer all Schlumberger services locally from Norway and Denmark.

  • In Norway, our activities include research and development, programming, manufacturing, maintenance, remote control from land, and operations offshore. Schlumberger has offices, laboratories, and workshops in Stavanger, Oslo, Bergen, Kristiansand, Gjøvik, and Trondheim and supply bases along the coast. Some of our petrotechnical experts work at our customers' facilities to offer support and closely follow up throughout the process—from modelling and analysis through planning to execution.
  • In Denmark, we have workshops and offices in Esbjerg and a sales office in Copenhagen.

Celebrating 55 Years in Norway

On July 16, 1966, the first two Norwegian employees of Schlumberger in Norway rigged up the new cable bridle on the logging unit on the Ocean Traveler rig to log the first well ever drilled in the Norwegian Continental Shelf, Well 8/3-1. Our journey of growth continues as we transition to meet the energy demands of the future.
