Oil-based temperature-stable invert-emulsion drilling fluid system
Achieve durable, temperature-stable invert emulsion fluid without higher gel strengths.
MEGAMUL multipurpose emulsifier serves as the basic emulsifier and wetting agent in the MEGADRIL diesel-oil-based system.
Benefits include improved thermal stability and high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) filtration control. The product is effective over a wide temperature range and in the presence of contaminants such as water, solids, and cement. MEGAMUL emulsifier effectively reduces the adverse effects of water and drill solids contamination.
|Typical Physical Properties|
|Typical Physical Properties Physical appearance||Dark-amber, viscous liquid|
|Typical Physical Properties Specific gravity||0.90 – 0.99|
|Typical Physical Properties Flash point||>203 degF [>95 degC] (Pensky–Martens closed-cup test)|
Initial system formulations require 4 to 12 lbm/ bbl (11.4 to 34.2 kg/m3), depending on the density, oil:water ratio, and required temperature stability.
MEGAMUL emulsifier requires excess lime to properly function; add 4 to 8 lbm/bbl (11.4 to 23 kg/m3) on initial makeup and maintain an excess of at least 1 lbm/bbl (3 kg/m3).
Bioassay information is available upon request. Handle as an industrial chemical, wearing protective equipment and observing the precautions as described in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
MEGAMUL emulsifier is packaged in 55-galUS (208-L) drums or 257-galUS [1,000-L] totes. Store in a dry, well-ventilated area. Keep container closed. Keep away from heat, sparks, and flames. Store away from incompatibles. Follow safe warehousing practices regarding palletizing, banding, shrink-wrapping, and stacking.
