The CLEAR hole cleaning and wellbore risk reduction service monitors hole cleaning effectiveness and wellbore stability. This simple, reliable, and robust service provides real-time insight to help the drilling team continually improve drilling performance and reduce NPT.
The weight of cuttings reaching the surface is continuously measured and analyzed as the cuttings come off the shale shakers. By comparing measured and theoretical volumes, the CLEAR service provides early detection of inadequate hole cleaning and excess returns caused by wellbore instability (caving) or formation damage.
Early detection enables early remediation, minimizes off-bottom circulation time, and improves safety. The CLEAR service helps prevent stuck-pipe incidents caused by packoff, lowers NPT, and maximizes ROP. Real-time cuttings flow information is obtained by a cuttings flowmeter at the end of each shale shaker, which accumulates cuttings as they fall off the shaker screen. The cuttings are weighed via strain gauges then discharged, and the cycle repeats.
