Changing conditions of mature fields

Resaca Exploration Inc. relied on REDA HPS pumps to work in the stable, mature unconventional resource fields of the Permian basin in West Texas since 2006. Production stimulation destabilized conditions in these fields, which resulted in an increase in produced water from 20,000 bbl/d to 25,000 bbl/d. This increase exceeded the surface facility's handling and disposal capacity.

Quick, economical pump extension

Resaca was unsatisfied with an industry solution that entailed possibly rebuilding the water disposal facility and purchasing new equipment, all with a delivery time of 10 to 14 weeks. Instead, the operator sought an upgrade from the Schlumberger artificial lift center in Midland, Texas. The REDA HPS pump's versatile skid design enabled an extension pump to be added, a cost-effective and quick solution for Resaca's changing operational conditions.

Increased injection capacity

An extension pump was built within 24 hours, and installation was scheduled and implemented by an HPS pump field service team within 10 hours. The additional pump section increased injection capacity at 1,200 psi from 20,000 bbl/d to 25,0000 bbl/d.
