Tech Report: RHEFLAT PLUS Modifier Saves USD 75,000, Simplifies Logistics in Deepwater HPHT Operation

Gellant and rheological modifier displays excellent rheology at high bottomhole temperature offshore Malaysia

An operator planned a two-well exploratory campaign offshore Malaysia in which bottomhole temperature and density conditions required a high-density, flat-rheology fluid and nonprogressive gels that would remain stable at elevated temperatures. The RHELIANT PLUS organophilic, thermally stable, flat-rheology invert-emulsion drilling fluid had been used with two liquid modifiers. However, the two modifiers required separate inventories and additional logistics. The operator sought an alternate solution that would save transportation costs and time.
