The bypass manifold (FMF-X and MFDX) is used with the PhaseTester portable multiphase well testing equipment in exploration, development, and production wells. It isolates the PhaseTester equipment to prevent flow interruption if the testing equipment is pulled out of service temporarily.

The bypass manifold typically consists of three manual valves and a variable choke box. An exception is the model MFDX-B designed to go with the first-generation PhaseTester equipment that has a built-in adjustable choke. The built-in adjustable choke allows well flow to be controlled and contributes to keeping the gas volume fraction (GVF) within the operating envelope of the PhaseTester.

Bypass manifold valves use a proven metalto- metal, double-sealing design to resist harsh environment operations. The FMF-X models comply with all applicable standards, such as API-6A and NACE MR0175.
