Pumping unit safety and troubleshooting

Designed for field supervisors and pumpers, this training is available at your wellsite, offices, or well service contractor’s offices. The course covers

  • pumping unit familiarization
  • best practices for pumping unit lockout/tag out
  • best practices for hazardous energy identification and control
  • pumping unit inspection techniques and problem identification.

Field service technician

Onsite supervision and training prior to rod installation reduces failures due to mishandling, dirty thread connections, improper makeup, wrong connections at the polished rod, and pump tagging from improper spacing. This course covers

  • safety meetings, including the task, job safety analysis (JSA), procedures, and potential hazards
  • inspection of well service rig alignment
  • inspection of well service tools
  • review of well and rod string design
  • count of rods and couplings to be installed
  • removal, cleaning, and lubrication of pin protectors
  • attachment of couplings
  • monitoring proper makeup displacement throughout installation
  • guidance for spacing out the string to make sure the pump is not tagging on the upstroke or downstroke.
