Our line of SSS surface safety system actuators includes the Model DAH double-acting hydraulic actuator, which is used for abrasive service where total control is an absolute necessity. The Model DAH supplies the force required to open or close critical gate valves under the most severe operating conditions. This type of actuator is ideal for applications including BOP stack choke valves and mud manifolds. It also is an alternative to manually operated gate valves where high valve torques exist or where personnel should be kept at a distance from the valve.
The DAH actuator is powered by hydraulic pressure from an external source. Because it is double acting, pressure must be applied to either the upper or lower chambers to produce corresponding downward or upward motion.
The DAH actuator is available with 5- and 7-in pistons and is designed for valve sizes from 2 through 7 in. Standard models are suitable for valve pressures up to 5,000 psi [345 bar]. Models also are available for valve working pressures up to 15,000 psi [1,034 bar] and are suitable for a temperature range from –75 to 250 degF [–59 to 121 degC].
A Cameron bonnet assembly is used to mount the patented quick-disengaging DAH actuator to any gate valve. The actuator can be mounted on either direct- or reverse-acting gate valves.
In addition, the use of the patented Quick-Disconnect bonnet allows the DAH actuator to be removed from the gate valve without bleeding down the valve pressure. It also allows the actuator to be removed within the space it occupies in the stem-up position on the gate valve.
