Combinable with standard wireline logging services, tractors, and intervention services, the WIReD release device can be placed at multiple positions along a toolstring to provide reliable contingency solutions. Release redundancy is achieved by surface release capability backed by a battery-powered release option—both enabled in the same run.
The surface release employs a new communication scheme that indicates tool status in real time and does not interfere with any other tool acquisition, nor is there any risk of affecting other tools.
Rated to 50,000-lbf tension, the WIReD release device enables conveyance systems to perform to their maximum capacity. Unlike conventional mechanical releases and electrically controlled release devices—both of which have a specified weakpoint—the WIReD device does not limit operations by precluding use of the full pull capacity.
The rugged WIReD release device is also shock qualified to readily manage the high shock generated during some perforating operations. This capability supports running long, heavy gun strings for efficiently perforating extended intervals in fewer runs.

The 3 1/8-in WIReD wireline inline release device is a robust and integrated release device tool that resets the conventional weakpoint approach by enabling reliable release on demand.
A new high-strength electrical release device has been developed that supersedes the typical weakpoint and achieves the same strength as the tool tension rating. A stronger release device facilitates running heavier tools on wireline, along with the ability to run significantly longer gun strings, which increases operational efficiency. The release device was subjected to a rigorous qualification program conducted to ensure the highest safety and reliability of this device under demanding conditions.
