Advanced Lifting Services
Spotlight

Advanced ESP Lifting Service (82 KB PDF) Developed specifically to identify, diagnose, and optimize wells with ESPs. The workflow takes a systematic approach and identifies potential inflow or outflow issues.

Extended Well Testing (194 KB PDF) Offers surveillance and diagnostics for wells that are typically underpressurized and do not flow naturally. The well test provides drawdown and buildup pressure data that is used to determine optimization potential.

Artificial lift optimization
Advanced Lifting Services is a fully integrated artificial lift optimization offering that delivers better lift system and reservoir performance for artificially lifted wells. It combines the latest in downhole sensor and artificial lift technology with Schlumberger reservoir expertise. Phoenix downhole monitoring systems are used to capture relevant lift system and reservoir parameters, and the data is transmitted in real time to provide 24/7 surveillance and the opportunity to identify candidate wells for artificial lift optimization.
The service is available for all types of artificial lift systems when a sensor is used to deliver downhole data.
- More than half of all artificially lifted wells have potential for significantly improved operation and increased production.
- On average, the optimization process improves oil production by 20%.
- Gains of more than tenfold have been verified by production measurements.
A three-tiered approach
-
Tier 1—Monitoring and reporting
This tier offers remote communication and control at the wellsite in real time. It provides the ability to access and set operational alarms on the downhole and surface system.
-
Tier 2—Surveillance and control
The espWatcher surveillance and control system for ESPs enables a single surveillance engineer to proactively monitor several hundred wells. The espWatcher system is thus a monitoring service with the additional support of an Artificial Lift Surveillance Center (ALSC). ALSCs are localized centers where Schlumberger engineers monitor and analyze data from connected wells to ensure their continued production. Recommendations based on this performance analysis can be implemented remotely, often resulting in immediate production increases.
-
Tier 3—Diagnosis and optimization
Once candidates for artificial lift optimization are identified by a surveillance engineer at the ALSC, reservoir engineers at the Production Center of Excellence (PCoE) perform a detailed analysis of the downhole equipment and well. The optimization team combines artificial lift and well testing expertise with advanced well diagnosis tools, such as LiftPro service for improving underperforming wells, PIPESIM production system analysis software, ECLIPSE reservoir simulation software, and OFM well and reservoir analysis software. These tools and others are used to diagnose ESP or wellbore problems, recommend corrective action, and provide an estimate of the cost of any needed intervention.
