Necessity is often the mother of invention and in no industry is this more true than in upstream oil and gas. A sampling of the many technological advances in the ever-changing world of artificial lift includes new lift services and products. Schlumberger has introduced a number of new artificial lift services and products, the first of which is the Advanced ESP Lifting Services, an integrated artificial lift service that maximizes production while lowering lifting costs. Schlumberger assigns a crew to conduct all the operations and install the electrical submersible pumping (ESP) system in the well. The wellsite is connected to a remote data hub for real-time surveillance and control of the submersible pumps. Data is available on a customized Web portal, and pump starts can be witnessed remotely.
