Our approach to innovation is known for rapidly enabling safer, more efficient, and more sustainable operations for both our customers and the planet. And it’s this approach that led us to more than 13,000 active patents across the 120+ countries in which we operate. Covering everything from research and development to testing and manufacturing, our 70 tech centers around the world (and counting) are driving energy innovation every single day.

Saudi Arabia – Together with our partners, the SLB Dhahran Carbonate Research Center advances tech development across electromagnetics, rock physics, and stimulation.

Beijing, China – SLB’s Beijing Geoscience Center remains one of our largest digital research and development centers in the world, focused mainly on data acquisition, transmission, and interpretation software.

Boston, USA – Thanks to its state-of-the-art robotics department and location within the MIT campus, our original Schlumberger-Doll Research Center plays a major role in both systems automation and subsurface measurements across the energy industry.

Just take a look at the largest SLB Tech Center in Europe.

Over 50 nationalities across 50 disciplines, pushing the boundaries on everything from subsurface to new energy to artificial intelligence—all under one roof. Our Clamart center is also completely powered by Celsius Energy, our own geoenergy tech.

Clamart also has a strong focus on digital and integration, housing its very own AI Lab.

The result? “Good enough” is never good enough for us.

Our tech centers are where we engineer, manufacture, and assemble pilot versions of new products, be they long-term projects or Rapid Response initiatives triggered by an immediate need. It’s also where we add novel layers of digitalization, electrification, and sensing advancements into our proven tech to boost customers’ success.

Meanwhile, our testing facilities—found from China all the way to Houston—empower us to not only push boundaries faster but to also ensure that our innovations properly handle the challenges customers face on (or in) the ground.

Our focus on combining operational efficiency, electrification, improved job design, and low-carbon fuel alternatives is already showing significant results. We've reduced ~21% of our Scope 3 emissions compared to our 2019 baseline and helped customers avoid more than 830,000 metric tons of CO₂e in 2023.
