LithoFlex

Multifactor shale-cuttings evaluation-while-drilling service

minus

The LithoFlex™ multifactor shale-cuttings evaluation-while-drilling service provides near-real-time formation evaluation of cuttings in unconventional reservoirs. Reliable and cost efficient, the LithoFlex service directly detects and quantifies minerals, total organic carbon (TOC), kerogen content, and elemental composition to optimize well trajectory, identify optimal zones for completion, and evaluate potential pay zones along the lateral with a well-defined geochemical fingerprint. The LithoFlex service uses diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) to estimate four proxies—mineralogy, TOC, kerogen maturity, and kerogen density—in just two minutes from the same sample, regardless of mud type (oil-, water-, or synthetic-based mud). By accurately identifying these proxies in a vertical well, the LithoFlex service enables you to determine the best zones to drill the lateral while reducing equipment needs and simplifying the formation evaluation process.

  • Mineralogical analysis for shale oil and gas characterization
  • Identification of organic-rich formations (source rocks) and hydrocarbon windows

  • Lateral heterogeneity mapping of TOC to optimize well placement
  • Kerogen maturity (proxy of vitrinite reflectance) mapping for oil and gas window fingerprint
  • Proprietary software for automatic mineralogical quantification
  • Real-time data transmission for near-real-time evaluation
  • Two-minute analysis time
  • Proprietary sample preparation method for any type of drilling fluid (oil-, water-, or synthetic-based mud)
