My dream changed. My ambition didn’t.

Growing up in a small city in China, I had a dream: becoming a scientist and winning a Nobel Prize.

That’s what I thought success looked like. But looking back, I now realize that life had much more interesting plans for me—and that my professional career would become a journey that has shaped who I am today.

After graduating from college, I began working in field operations at SLB. I quickly found out that the field is an incredible teacher—giving me responsibility before I felt ready for it and showing me that trust is earned through actions, not titles.

Later, I moved through operations, sales, and line management before stepping into roles in strategy, human resources, manufacturing, supply chain, and headquarters leadership.

I sometimes feel that I’ve worked for several different companies without ever leaving SLB!

What kept me energized along the way? The opportunity to keep learning. Every transition— across four continents, 10 countries, and 14 cities—pushed me to understand a new function, business challenge, or way of thinking. Through it all, I gained something I value deeply: the ability to connect different parts of the business and see the bigger picture beyond any single function or organization.

But the greatest gift of my journey has nothing to do with job titles or promotions.

While working in Japan, I met my French husband. We married during an assignment in Oman. I found out I was pregnant in Egypt, and gave birth to our son in Thailand.

So when people ask where our family is from, the answer is never straightforward. We’ve been shaped by many different countries, cultures, languages, and friendships—experiences I believe could only have been possible in a company as global as SLB.

My journey across four distinct businesses, including leading groups and divisions, has profoundly shaped my definition of success. Early on, it was my technical depth that opened doors and built my credibility. But as I crossed into new territories, I quickly realized no single person's expertise could span it all—and that was a gift. Now, my greatest satisfaction is helping others grow into leaders, take on bigger challenges, and succeed in ways that may even surprise themselves.

As SLB celebrates its 100-year journey, I feel grateful for the many opportunities and people that have influenced my own path here. I’ve explored multiple jobs, created a global family, and gained perspectives I couldn’t imagine when I first started out from a small city with big ambitions.

What began as a career became a life—one that’s even richer than the one I once dreamed of.

I’m proud that it’s part of SLB’s 100-year story. And I can’t wait to see where the journey takes all of us in the years ahead.
