WELL COMMISSIONER Liner-Top Test Tool Eliminates Two Trips in Ghawar Field, Saves 2.5 Days

M-I SWACO developed the WELL DOMINATOR sub tool to extend the capabilities of the WELL COMMISSIONER tool. By using the same packer for both tests, the operator was able to drill cement and test the well in a single run— completing the job in record time for monobore wells and saving 2.5 days.

背景

For monobore wells in the Ghawar field, a Middle East operator typically performed a dedicated scraping run before running an individual high-pressure testing packer. The high-pressure test at the top of the liner required two dedicated runs, which took 2.5 days or more. To save time, M-I SWACO proposed adapting the WELL COMMISSIONER liner-top test tool for high-pressure testing in addition to the standard negative inflow test.
