Maxtorque™ high-performance worm gears are engineered for a wide range of manual, motorized, subsea, and specialty valve operations, including demanding flow control applications. Based on a proprietary, high-efficiency, double-enveloping worm gear and constructed from best-in-class materials, they provide robust solutions with exceptional torque capacity and fast operating times while requiring less operating effort, leading to improved HSE profiles and the ability to use smaller actuators on motorized valves. Maxtorque worm gears deliver outstanding reliability in both manual and motorized configurations.

Autolock technology enables the gear to lock automatically at the point of initial actuation. The gear design incorporates unique tooth forms to minimize microscopic stresses, low and adjustable backlash, and rugged construction for extreme-duty environments, such as subsea, marine, and process control. These worm gears can be retrofitted and used across virtually all industrial sectors requiring reliable valve actuation.

  • Oil and gas production and distribution (upstream, midstream, and downstream)
  • Chemical processing industries, including those with corrosive atmospheres and rigorous usage
  • Pulp and paper manufacturing
  • Food processing facilities
  • Subsea operations, where durability, reliability, and ingress protection are paramount
  • Severe service environments, including saltwater, steam, and highly corrosive applications

2–2.5 times more efficient than standard gears

  • Efficiencies approaching 70%
  • Lower opex due to more efficient manual operation, reduced requirement for actuators, and smaller actuators on motorized valves
  • Decreased HSE risk and higher productivity because of enhanced ergonomics and up to 75% less operator effort
  • Greater process agility because the gear design permits quick and responsive valve strokes
  • Enhanced durability—even in fluctuating pressures and extreme temperatures
  • Autolock self-locking mechanism enables the gear to lock automatically at the point of initial actuation
  • Double-enveloping gear enhances torque handling and wear resistance, maximizing service life and reliability
  • Specialized tooth profile reduces friction and microscopic stresses, mitigating wear and extending operational life cycle
  • Superior sealing combined with an IP68 ingress protection rating shields the gear internals from water and dust, ensuring suitability in submerged and harsh environments
  • Premium-grade materials and corrosion-resistant housings prevent galling and ensure extended durability under demanding operational conditions; 100% stainless steel construction is also available
  • Stringent testing ensures that gears meet or exceed industry standards, including ATEX certification, American Water Works Association (AWWA) requirements, US military (MIL) specifications, and ISO 9001 standards
  • Engineered and manufactured in the US
