SLB Launches Nano-Enabled Chemical Portfolio to Boost Production from Existing Assets

已发表: 11/04/2026

Nano-enabled chemistry extends treatment life and reduces the need for interventions

ABU DHABI, UAE, November 4, 2026 — SLB (NYSE: SLB) today launched its ChampionX™ nano-enabled chemical technology portfolio, a range of advanced production chemistry solutions designed to help operators improve production performance from existing oil and gas assets.

The first technology introduced under the portfolio is Extended Release™, a nano-enabled scale squeeze solution that delivers longer-lasting scale protection than conventional treatments. By extending treatment life, the technology helps lower operating costs in mature and complex production environments.

In offshore deployments, Extended Release technology has demonstrated more than twice the treatment life of conventional scale-squeeze technologies, reducing the need for repeat interventions.

“The future of energy production will depend on unlocking more value from assets already in operation,” said Ross O’Dell, Business Line Director, Production Chemical Technologies, SLB. “Extended Release demonstrates how nanotechnology can deliver longer-lasting scale protection, helping operators maintain production continuity with fewer interventions. It is the first step in applying nanotechnology across a broader range of production and recovery challenges.”

Nanotechnology enables a new level of precision in chemical treatment design, unlocking performance beyond conventional technologies. Backed by research, laboratory testing and field validation, the ChampionX nano-enabled portfolio is expected to expand with solutions for production optimization, flow assurance and enhanced recovery.

Key Points:

  • Extended Release™ technology, the first solution in the portfolio, has demonstrated more than double the treatment life of conventional scale-squeeze treatments in offshore applications, helping reduce intervention frequency and maintain production continuity.
  • SLB launches the ChampionX™ nano-enabled chemical technology portfolio to help operators maximize production from existing oil and gas assets while reducing operating costs.
  • The ChampionX™ nano-enabled portfolio establishes a platform for future innovations in production optimization, flow assurance and enhanced recovery, expanding the application of nanotechnology across production chemistry challenges.
