1955
Dover Corporation is formed with Norris Rods as a core business. Over the following decades, Dover acquires and develops several artificial lift and production technology businesses that later become part of ChampionX, including Harbison-Fischer, Alberta Oil Tool, UPCO, Oil Lift Technology, PCS Ferguson, and Theta Oilfield Services.
2018
Apergy Corporation is spun off from Dover Corporation and begins operating as an independent public company, focused on artificial lift and production optimization technologies.
2019
Apergy Corporation and Ecolab announce a definitive agreement to combine Apergy with the upstream energy business of Nalco Champion, creating a larger production optimization technology company.
2020
The transaction closes and Apergy Corporation becomes ChampionX Corporation. ChampionX begins trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol CHX and operates across more than 55 countries with a portfolio spanning production chemicals, artificial lift systems, and digital production technologies.
2024
SLB announces a definitive agreement to acquire ChampionX Corporation in an all-stock transaction, describing the acquisition as a strategic step to strengthen its leadership in production and recovery technologies.
2025
SLB completes the acquisition of ChampionX Corporation on July 16, 2025.
