SLB OneSubsea Awarded Major Umbilical Contract by Eni for Offshore Indonesia

Published: 07/09/2026

Advanced manufacturing approach enables efficient execution and faster delivery for large-scale deepwater project

HOUSTON, July 9, 2026 — SLB (NYSE: SLB) announced today that its OneSubsea™ joint venture has been awarded a contract by Eni North Ganal Limited (a subsidiary of Searah Limited, a joint venture company between Eni and PETRONAS) to deliver a steel tube umbilical system for the Kutei North Hub field development project offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Supporting one of the region’s most significant deepwater developments, SLB OneSubsea will engineer, procure and manufacture 94.6 km of umbilical for water depths of up to 2,200 meters. With a total system weight of approximately 6,700 tons, the project represents one of the largest umbilical contracts awarded in the industry to date.

The project will be executed using SLB OneSubsea’s advanced manufacturing approach, combining its Oscilay™ and planetary production lines. By enabling parallel manufacturing activities, this approach increases production efficiency and significantly reduces delivery timelines compared with conventional single-line methods.

“Operators are looking for partners who can help them move projects forward with confidence,” said Mads Hjelmeland, chief executive officer of SLB OneSubsea. “This award demonstrates how we combine technical expertise with innovative manufacturing capabilities to support efficient project execution and accelerated delivery, while maintaining the reliability and performance required for demanding deepwater developments.”

For this application, the umbilical system is designed to meet a design pressure of 10,000 psi. The project also includes the production of a single continuous umbilical length of 30 km, weighing approximately 2,100 tons, requiring specialized large-scale carousel capacity for manufacturing and storage.
