How it improves performance

The DCIN-II chemical injection system consists of a tubing-conveyed eccentric mandrel, housing

  • two corrosion-resistant check valves
  • a hydraulic fitting that connects to an injection line used to transport chemical treatments from surface.

This system can be used to inject chemicals to prevent corrosion or inhibit formation of hydrates, scale, asphaltenes, or paraffin on critical components in the tubing string.

The check valves are independently qualified, and each valve is capable of withstanding differential pressures from 200 to 20,000 psi at temperatures from 70 to 400 degF. Both valves are manufactured from premium materials, including MP35N and PEEK. The upper check valve is equipped with a soft seat while the lower valve has a metal-to-metal seal, ensuring exceptional system performance throughout the operating range.

Available in various tubing sizes and thread weights, the DCIN-II can be connected to 1⁄4-, 3⁄8-, or 1⁄2-in injection lines using our state-of-the-art, externally testable, hydraulic dry-mate connector (HDMC). Check valve integrity can be verified at any time by pressuring up the tubing and monitoring the injection line. The injection system is equipped with external bypass slots that are designed to accommodate standard sizes of encapsulated hydraulic and electrical lines for intelligent completion applications.

If required, a second system—comprising another set of check valves and a hydraulic fitting—can be accommodated on the mandrel to enable simultaneous injection of two chemical treatments at the same depth.

How it works

The DCIN-II chemical injection system is made up in the tubing string at the desired injection point. A control line for chemical injection is attached to it via the HDMC. The DCIN-II and injection line are then run to the desired injection depth with the completion. After well commissioning, the DCIN-II enables chemical injection via the control line into the tubing, while preventing any fluid migration in the reverse direction.
