Horizontal surface pump significantly boosts production transfer capacity while saving USD 1.3 million annually

A Reda HPS™ horizontal multistage surface pumping system replaced a third-party pumping solution that was operating at its limits. The new pump enabled Shaya Ecuador S.A. to increase its production transfer capacity by 5,000–8,000 BOPD with minimal disruption, while significantly reducing annual operating costs.

Shaya Ecuador S.A. was seeking to increase its fluid transfer capacity by 5,000 bbl/d to support higher production rates from Block 61 in the Auca Field. The incumbent third-party horizontal surface pump was operating near its design limit of 20,000 bbl/d and was unable to accommodate the increase.

Attempts to improve the existing system’s performance through minor operational adjustments could not reliably achieve the target capacity or provide a scalable solution for future production growth. Shaya wanted a reliable and efficient solution to achieve immediate and long-term production goals.

SLB proposed its third-generation Reda HPS horizontal pumping system, which can be rapidly configured and installed. It supports higher transfer rates without need for auxiliary equipment or increased operational complexity. Integrated SLB engineering and operations teams ensured that the system was optimized for field conditions and executed a seamless transition.

The new pump increased production transfer capacity by 5,000–8,000 BOPD, enabling Shaya to meet its targets. Installation time was reduced by 12 hours, significantly lowering HSE exposure, and the optimized configuration eliminated the need for supplementary equipment rentals, saving USD 1.3 million annually.

Shaya now operates with improved transfer efficiency, enhanced reliability, and a scalable surface pumping system that supports future production increases. This deployment has established a precedent, positioning the Reda HPS system as the standard solution for similar production transfer challenges.
