The wells we drill today are more complex geologically and the pressure windows are narrower. These issues create a challenge in wellbore stability and geomechanics, requiring more modeling during the predrill phase. Schlumberger designs the drilling program taking the geomechanics into consideration to protect the quality of the wellbore with the use of rotary steerable systems or also the hydraulics design. The resulting high-quality wellbore improves zonal isolation with proper cementing.
