Case Study RAPID SWEEP Polymer Stick Emerges as Viable, Cost-Effective Alternative to Hi-Vis Sweeps
Helped alleviate solids build up around the bit, roller-reamer and BHA to clean the hole with no adverse effect on the fluid properties or BHA.
Water-soluble polymer stick
RAPID SWEEP polymer stick is an engineered acrylic copolymer for use in water-based mud systems. It dissolves while traveling through the drillstring and shears at the bit, resulting in a high-viscosity sweep that aids in hole cleaning and minimizes the potential for bit balling by providing viscosity, reduced friction, encapsulated cuttings, and a stabilized wellbore.
The polymer stick is introduced into a water-base mud system by inserting a polymer stick in the ID of the drill pipe while making a connection. For the best results, add one polymer stick for each new joint added to the drill string. Adjustments to the number of sticks added depend on ROP, hole size, pump rate, and the desired polymer concentration per sweep.
