How It improves performance

PowerDrive Max™ unconventional high-performance rotary steerable system delivers on high performance drilling demands by combining a reinforced structural redesign with more aggressive steering capability and enhanced downhole automation to enable tighter curve landings and improved trajectory control in lateral drilling. The novel control unit architecture simplifies internal components and improves resilience to higher weight and higher solids content drilling fluids, improving reliability. With these capabilities, PowerDrive Max RSS higher ROPs and smoother trajectories, resulting in better, more consistent performance.

How it works

Longer, tapered pads enable higher pad force and wear resistance, increasing DLS output and extending run duration. The novel control unit architecture reduces complexity and improves resilience to higher weight, high solids content drilling fluids. Advanced downhole control enhances steering response, reducing tortuosity and enabling higher ROP.

What it replaces

PowerDrive Max RSS replaces previous-generation systems such as PowerDrive Orbit™ precise and versatile rotary steerable system and PowerDrive Orbit G2™ high-performance rotary steerable system.
