SLB delivered the first reverse circulation cleanout using the powered downhole measurements system of ACTive™ real-time downhole coiled tubing services in the Clair Ridge well. The approach improved pressure control, enabled early screenout detection, and reduced circulating fluid volumes. The operation established a repeatable workflow for complex offshore well interventions.

A controlled and efficient well intervention was required by bp to support hydraulic fracturing operations in the well at the Clair Ridge field. The well configuration presented challenges related to pressure management, multiple zonal isolation requirements, and internal diameter restrictions in the lower completion.

Limited real-time downhole visibility during conventional reverse circulation cleanouts increased the risk of pressure excursions, inefficient debris removal, and nonproductive time. SLB provided a solution for bp that would improve well condition monitoring, optimize cleanout efficiency, and reduce operational risk under offshore constraints.

SLB executed a CT intervention incorporating the ACTive powered downhole measurements system, marking the first application of this system during a reverse circulation cleanout. Continuous downhole pressure, temperature, and casing collar locator measurements enabled improved pressure management and early detection of screenout conditions.

Accurate casing collar correlation supported precise sleeve shifting and pressure testing, reducing confirmation runs and minimizing time in the well. Controlled run‑in‑hole speeds and optimized operating procedures reduced the risk of tool damage and debris accumulation.

Reverse circulation parameters were adjusted in real time based on downhole measurements, improving sand and proppant recovery while reducing total fluid volumes pumped. Enhanced debris removal at lower return rates allowed efficient wellbore cleaning and supported subsequent postfracture intervention activities.

Real-time collaboration through the InterACT™ secure wellsite data-delivery solution improved alignment between offshore and onshore teams, enabling faster decision making and increased operational confidence. The integrated approach demonstrated a safer and more efficient method for offshore reverse cleanout operations and established a benchmark for future well interventions.
